Story
It all started when we put on a free production of A Midsummer Night's Dream in Cambridge over the summer to a fabulous audience of 65. It was an utterly wonderful experience and we decided that we must bring our joyous production to a wider audience.
After months of hard work we are now self-producing a second, equally joyous, iteration of this show in an up-and-coming venue in London - Applecart Arts - for 5 performances from Nov 20 - 24th.
We feel very passionately that this production should be available to all. So, tickets are priced extremely reasonably and we feel our physical, visual & fun production is not only in the spirit of Shakespeare’s original but will also transcend language barriers and open the production to everybody, irrespective of social background, native tongue or experience of Shakespeare.
We are a collective of emerging actors and around half of us are recent drama school graduates. We have discovered why so many people are so fazed by putting on their own work - it's really hard work and, without funding, extremely challenging. We have so far worked for free and are personally funding the production costs - venue hire, set, costumes, technician, posters, flyers etc - with the hope that we will at least make back the production expenses and hopefully a little profit so that we can cover our own personal costs.
We would love to have your support. Without wonderful, warm-hearted supporters it's really challenging for people to start out in the arts and even continue.
By asking for your support, we are asking you not just to support emerging actors & artists but also to help us to bring some of our richest theatre to people who may not normally have the money to get to the West End and see shows there.
We thank you in advance for reading this and any support you're able to give us.
Warmest wishes
Skevy Stylia, James Edwards, Joanna O'Connor, Alia Sohail, Matt Melone, James Kingdon, Fleur de Wit & Mikey Anthony-Howe
