This is Lennie, he's 4 and came home in October 2021 after spending 2 years in Birmingham Children's Hospital. He was born with an undiagnosed heart condition called CCTGA (Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries) which we found out when he was 3 weeks old. He had 2 open heart surgeries, unfortunately 4 months after his 2nd he went into end stage heart failure and we were told his only option was a transplant and he would have to stay in hospital on IV medication until then. After 18 months of being on the list without an offer he started to deteriorate and after discussions with many consultants it was decided that we would take him off the list and take him home to create some amazing memories with him, as due to his rare tissue type and high levels of antibodies, finding a match and his body accepting a heart were very slim. So having weaned him off his IV meds and onto oral we were allowed to bring him home. We have since enjoyed days out and a lovely Xmas together at home but would really like to take him to Blackpool as we have been every year with the kids since our oldest (19) was little. Lennie has missed out on the last 3 and now because we are unsure of the future we would like to bring that holiday sooner rather than later in the year. Lennie has 2 big brothers, 19 & 7 and a big sister who's 13. For us to be able to enjoy a family holiday would be amazing and for Lennie would be magical as he was a baby last time he went.
