Story

My Names Leo and im an Addict ... On the 24th of February 2019, i arrived at The Well Communities, in Barrow in furness , straight from an Alcohol detox centre in kendal and off the back of a gruelling 12 week reduction plan, i was beaten broken and hopeless, i had battled addiction for the best part of 20 years and failed at every attempt when trying to stop, i had tried everything but nothing ever worked for me, it was torture, i honestly thought i would die an addict, i just didnt think it was possible for me to get clean and sober for good , the longest id ever gone was a few weeks and that was hell.. in the end i couldnt live with or without drink and drugs, i was trapped and i just couldnt see a way out, so when i rocked up at ‘The Well’ i honestly thought this would just be another one of ”those things” that i would try, but wouldnt work for me, because i was “different”.... or so i thought ... ... ... turns out ... i was so wrong... i spent the best 13 months of my life in the treatment centre, working on my self and with the help of my peers and all the wonderful staff, i started to get better, 1 day at a time, the obsession and desire to take drink and drugs evaporated and my life just started to get better and better, and so did my peers, it was so amazing to watch people change before my very eyes and get their families back in their lives, what a journey!! and its all down to The Well Communities, i owe my life to the place and so do alot of others, I will always be forever grateful to The Well and so will my family, i met some amazing people, some life long friends and i fell in love With the place and as im writing this today im now 1 year 2 months and 9 days clean and sober, i have the life beyond my wildest dreams that was promised to me at the start and im full of gratitude and excitement about the future, because just over a year ago, i couldnt even see a future, i had give up on life, but recovery is possible and miracles do happen; and they happen at The Well Communities, i am proof, So i would really appreciate your help so i can try and give back a little something to the place that saved my life and the lives of many others..
