Last year Leo and his brother raised money for Crohns and Colitis UK by completing a 10K walk in London. This year Leo has decided to take part in a reading challenge and will raise money for the Sick But Invisible campaign and Purple Wings Charity.
The Sick But Invisible Campaign raises awareness and supports people with invisible illnesses. They post a monthly 'You Are Visible' box to a person nominated who has been going through a tough time due to their invisible illness which contains items meant to help lift their spirits and let them know they are not fighting alone. Leo is supporting this charity as Ste who helped start the campaign with his friend Lauryn is his Step-Dad and they support people with Crohns which is what his Mum and Ste both have.
The Purple Wings Charity supports people who have ostomy surgery due to IBD regain their confidence. They offer grants which include family days out and shopping vouchers for people. They produce a yearly calendar featuring people with ostomies to help promote awareness, raise money and inspire confidence for the people who have had this surgery. Leo has seen the good things this charity do for people after they supported his Mum following her ileostomy surgery. His Step-Dad also featured in this years PW calendar.
Leo is planning to do a reading challenge and aims to read 30 books of at least 100 pages each in length by the end of July. He wants to split the money he raises in between the two charities.
