    Story

On 5th October 2017 our son, Leo Singh Verdi was born sleeping. Having lost our twin baby girls just 18 months beforehand, we were anxiously counting down the last few weeks of the pregnancy to meet our son when the doctors discovered he had a rare brain condition affecting just one in a million babies born. Our world collapsed around us as we suddenly went from planning a nursery to planning our baby's funeral.

In the midst of our heartache and pain, we were touched by some amazing selfless people that have given us help and support at the time we needed it most. The following organisations were incredible and we will never forget the impact they had on helping us through this otherwise impossible time in our lives. We are creating this page so that, in the memory of baby Leo, we can help these charities continue doing their great work.

Remember My Baby - This amazing charity has professional volunteer photographers who offer the gift of remembrance photography to parents experiencing the loss of their baby. We contacted RMB photographer Martyn who came to the hospital shortly after the birth of baby Leo. Martyn took some beautiful photos, capturing memories which we will treasure forever.

4Louis - After saying our farewell to Leo, the midwife gave us a memory box that had been donated by the charity '4Louis'. We will be forever grateful to them for giving us the many keepsake memories of Leo which we will cherish for a lifetime. The charity was set up by Kirsty and Michael after their son was born sleeping back in 2009. They now provide these boxes to hospitals all over the country.

Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) - Baby Leo never made it as far as GOSH, but we are grateful to the doctors there for their help and information. GOSH is one of a few hospitals worldwide with ground-breaking research into Leo's condition. We would like to donate to GOSH so they continue to help families affected by this and other rare conditions.

University College Hospital - During the pregnancy we were looked after by the Fetal Medicine Unit at the University College Hospital. The unit is led by a team of highly skilled specialist doctors that offer diagnosis and treatment of complications during pregnancy and conditions which may arise in unborn babies. The care and attention we received from the entire team was nothing short of incredible and we would like to enable them to continue helping other couples faced with a similar diagnosis.
