    Story

My stand-up wheelchair which I purchased for £7000 approximately 10 years ago has finally reached the time I need to upgrade it.

This chair has been my life-line without which I would be bed-bound. I am no longer able to stand because I do not have the upper body strength but I often lay down in the chair and I am now able to drive and do everything with my head switch using the dynamic G91S joystick.

I need the same chair because of modifications I have made to make me comfortable and safe and its strength.

The new chair also has a gyroscope so when I drive in a direction the chair moves the right way regardless of the surface or tyre pressures.

The picture is of my genie V1 chair and the inset pictures of the new genie V2 which I am trying to purchase.

I was an apprentice, lift installer, lift tester (including two trips abroad in Cairo for 3 months and Johannesburg for 4.5 months) after which I did a degree in electronics at UCNW sponsored by Express Lifts after which I was assistant service technical manager. Also I worked for Total Lifts; Advance Lifts and Budget Lifts before becoming a control panel designer/tester for Capital Controls. I then left and worked for Jackson Lifts for 12 years in the office when my walking got worse due to my MS. After I left I worked for VM Elevators for a year and still do a little voluntary work for them.

    My website is askLesdirect.com

The new chair is £12,800 but I have received a voucher from wheelchair services for £1390 and I will have £5,000 myself towards it.
I cannot thank people enough for their generosity
