With five senior sides on a Saturday, one side in the Beds League on Sunday and a thriving and growing Junior section - Letchworth Garden City Cricket Club are proud of what we offer the community of Letchworth.

But in order to secure the future of our club - which has operated as long as the town itself - we are in desperate need of improving the facilities at our home in Whitethorn Lane and second ground at Fairfield Park.

Cricket clubs in general are finding it hard to make ends meet and participation numbers are dropping nationwide but we want to “buck the trend” and enhance our status as one of Hertfordshire’s most successful clubs.

As with most cricket clubs, we are in desperate need of items that are needed to give people the opportunity of enjoying cricket at Letchworth and, unfortunately, these do not come cheap.

A new roller is required at our second ground Fairfield Park and we need to purchase a bowling machine to enhance our net facilities at Whitethorn Lane, as the old one has finally given up the ghost.

We also need a second sight screen at the bottom end of Whitethorn and to provide extra covers for the square over bowlers run ups - both now a league requirement for sides in the top division.

These items alone will cost us in the region of £8,000.
