Story
Le Tour de Stafford celebrates its 11th voyage on Saturday 3rd Feb 2024!
Le Tour de Stafford started in 2010 by a small group of friends who had a mad idea to do a pub crawl on children’s scooters. Since then, the event has grown into a yearly fundraising event for local charities which has now raised nearly £15,000. Charities have included: A Child of Mine, University Hospitals North Midlands, Katherine House Hospice, and many more.
For the 2024 tour, the charity we have chosen is one close to us all.
Tour organiser, Ben had a car accident in June 2022 where he suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury. After nearly 3 weeks in a coma and 3 months in hospital, Ben had to re-learn to walk, talk, and much more. After a period of time at home, he and his family were advised to seek support and guidance at Headway South Staffs.
Through their support it has given Ben and his family a chance to gain knowledge and understanding of his current and future needs, as well as support to deal with the effects such an injury has on life for the person and all those people around them. In the early stages, it also provided Ben’s family with welcome respite from their caring duties, safe in the knowledge that Ben was in the best environment.
Headway South Staffs has recently acquired a brand new centre in order to continue to push forward in the help and care of current members. This new centre will also allow Headway South Staffs to increase the number of members they are able to support, giving carers and family members support through ensuring safety at the centre rather than being left alone at home, as they go about day to day life.
We thankyou for all support. Viva Le Tour!
