I've raised £10000 to give the Wall Family a helping hand whilst they support Joe having the chemotherapy he needs through donations & fundraising events.

I started this Crowd Fundraising page just a few weeks ago, we’ve had an amazing amount support with even a very generous donation from no-other than Liam Gallagher!! 🤟🏼🤟🏼 Big thank you! Your donations and messages are so greatly appreciated no matter what the donation, the family really have been overwhelmed by the kind messages of support, it truly means a lot! ❤️
James, a fellow neighbour, who is Swim Teacher and Lifeguard at Carn-Brea Leisure Centre enlisted the help and support of his colleagues to set up a sponsored challenge to collectively swim 1000 lengths of the main pool -- a distance of just over 15.5 miles in a couple of hours!!! The community spirit of this has been fab.
Please help us to raise funds to support Joe and his family by donating for the swimming challenge that is taking place at Carn-Brea Leisure Centre, Pool, Redruth, Cornwall at 5.30pm on Saturday 29th February 🏊♂️💦

THANK YOU! 🙃
⭐️ More importantly... Please read below for Joe’s full story so far and why we’re trying to raise these funds...

Joe is a 16 year old young man who was recently diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of December, 2019. He has an extremely rare type of lymphoma (a blood cancer) which is very aggressive and is going to require over three years of chemotherapy and other treatment. Joe was receiving treatment at a children‘s hospital in Bristol, he is now at home in Cornwall having the most intense part of his new Chemotherapy regime.”
Joe is a lovely lad with possibly the driest but funniest sense of humour I have ever met! Up until early December of this year Joe was studying Sports Science at Truro College. He loves football and Manchester City (this is incurable). Joe has three other siblings; Tom (15), Ben (12) and Gracie (4). Joe’s mum (Joanne) and dad (Dan) are trying their best to support Joe at Bristol Children’s Hospital and their other children in Cornwall at the same time. Dan and Joanne are parenting goals! 👌🏼🙌🏼
Joe has undergone so much in such a short space of time - From the immense pain that he was in before he was diagnosed, many many blood tests/scans, bone marrow biopsy’s, weekly lumbar punctures, having a big line (Hickman) put in, to numerous feeding (NG) tubes. He‘s learning how to walk again after losing a huge amount of weight after an infection before Christmas as well as undertaking a gruelling chemo regimen. Joe has been so brave, he’s been taking everything in his stride...and still checking his mum is ok! Even when things have been at there worse he‘s still got a smile on his face and a positive attitude...and always polite to the nurses! ❤️
Since his diagnosis Joe has spent the majority of his time in Bristol at the Apollo 35 Ward in Bristol. Dan is busy working during the week and up until recently travelling to and forth at the weekend between Bristol and Cornwall (a 350 mile round trip). Joanne and Gracie were living in CLIC accommodation with support from Joe’s Nanny (Gail) who stayed with Joe every night. As you can imagine life is very difficult for them all at the moment whether in Bristol or Cornwall... Tom had been staying with his Grandad and Ben with his Uncle so that they can easily get to their schools. This meant there is a lot of time spent apart from each other and a lot of travelling for everyone. Joanne and Gail of course too need to travel back and see family as well. Now Joe is at home and a new set of challenges faces them.
Currently Joe is receiving the most intense part of his Chemo regime at Treliske attending the CLIC ward for hours at a time 3-4 times a week. With that has come a host of horrible side effects... continuous sickness, nose bleeds, fatigue amongst many others. Joanne has been by his side caring for him and giving his extra medications. The other three children still need a parent obviously and family are rallying around. Appropriately Joanne is struggling, getting next to no rest herself and needs the support of Dan who has been working hard to provide for his family. Being a self employed electrician Dan does not receive carers or compassionate leave, the odd afternoon and time for emergencies is a relief for all and thats where we can help as well as the below costs below...
It would be great to raise as much money as possible (Aiming high!! 💪🏼) for the Wall Family to help support them through this time. They have all been so brave through such an emotional and difficult three months with things changing so drastically for them all. Joe has over three years of chemotherapy ahead of him and that is with no further issues. There are many added costs involved with the family being apart and at home.
I stayed for a few days with them recently when they were in Bristol and was struck by how quickly the costs really added up. As you can imagine there are lots of fuel costs, parking, added food costs, other added travel costs (taxi between CLIC house and the hospital at night) and it all adds up! It would be lovely just to try and ease one of the many stressors for this family at the moment. If you are able, please donate (literally any amount! You can donate from £2...every penny counts!) and share this page as much as you can so as many people can help as possible. The amount donations go up by a share on Facebook and Instagram are really noticeable.
Thank you so so much ❤️🌈 xxx
