Story

Letton Hall was built in 1783 and is the first domestic commission of Sir John Soane. It is in the top 5% most important buildings in the UK and has a 2 star listed status.

The Letton Hall Trust, a registered charity, have been using the Main Hall and the Stables as a residential Conference Centre since 1979. Welcoming Faith groups, schools and youth organisations throughout the year.

The roof of the Main House is in very real need of major repair. The Trustees and Management of Letton Hall have applied to all the major funders of Heritage Buildings in the UK with no success. We are, therefore, launching this appeal to help make Letton Hall's future more certain.

We have benefitted from some funding which allowed us to have a full Structural Engineers Condition Report completed. This helped inform a Quantity Survey of the cost of repair of the roof. We therefore know that the roof repair will cost £700,000.

The £250,000 we are asking for in this appeal is just for Phase One of the repair work. Letton Hall Trust will continue to apply to grant making organisations, for further funding, but we know that it is unlikely we will get what we need from one grant application.

If you feel that this place is worth saving, or perhaps you have fond memories of visits here in the past, would you please consider giving to this appeal. Please pass this need on to anyone else you think may have a connection to Letton Hall.

Thankyou for considering our appeal.
