    Story

To add to the £340 raised from the previous page

We are a group of social workers determined to raise money following the heart-breaking news one of our student colleagues and her family has recently received.

Although we don't want to name our friend, we hope that this story will reach out and encourage you to donate- no amount is too little and your comments will give the family strength at this difficult time.

Peter (let's call him) is the son of our colleague and friend ( who is a caring, loving, single mum to 3 children). He's 15 and is studying hard to take his GCSE's. Concerned by an increasing number of trips and falls - he was admitted to hospital for tests - he has now been diagnosed with the neurodegenerative disease 'Leukodytophy' - a rare and life limiting illness. This is a devastating diagnosis for this young boy, his very hard working mum and his younger 2 siblings.

Leukodystrophy isn’t just one disease; it’s actually a group of diseases that affect the central nervous system. Currently Peter is undergoing further tests to understand the 'type' of Leukodystrophy he has.

There is no cure for this life limiting disease. Doctors can address the symptoms with medication, physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Some people may need additional help with learning and nutrition, in some cases, a bone marrow transplant can help.
Some of the common symptoms Inc.
    • Balance and mobility problems
    • Behavioral and learning disabilities
    • Bladder issues
    • Breathing difficulties
    • Developmental delays
    • Hearing, speech, and vision problems
    • Muscle control disorders
    • Seizures

We would like to raise money for a holiday for the family, before life becomes impossible.
