Story
Lewes School Uniform Bank has been running for two years, supporting Lewes residents in financial hardship. We operate year-round, providing new and good quality secondhand uniform to local families with children attending Southover, Western Road, Malling, Wallands and Hamsey Primary Schools as well as Chailey and Priory Secondary Schools.
Families who are already struggling can find it very difficult to find the money for new school uniform in September after 6 weeks without free school meals, summer activities to pay for and often extra childcare costs.
This summer we have had more referrals than ever from food banks, GPs and schools as well as self referrals from those receiving Universal Credit. This means that by the time the schools go back next month, our reserves of school uniform and funds to buy new, much needed items, will be close to zero and we have to start all over again.
Please help us to continue supporting our community by donating any amount you can to our Just Giving campaign. This money will go towards buying new uniform, coats, shoes, school bags, stationary and nothing else.
We are also taking donations of good quality secondhand uniform, particularly for Wallands and Priory schools. You can get in touch with Emily Clarke to arrange delivery/collection by emailing e.clarke1982@gmail.com
