Story
Edit: Overwhelemed by the amount of support and generosity from everyone, I've increased the target! Thank you everyone so much!
During August of this year, many different groups associated with Project Zulu will be flying out to Newcastle, South Africa in order to help in different areas such as technology, engineering, teaching and sport. This year myself and 5 other team members will be flying out for 3 and a half weeks to aid and facilitate teaching and development in schools located in the Madadeni Township about half an hour away from Newcastle, looking at the technological side of things. The schools currently have some equipment such as laptops and computers locked away in their safes. The equipment was donated by local businesses and the like around South Africa. They have no idea how to set up and use any of this technology, however. The team and i will be setting up this equipment, as well as providing our own machines, and attempt to setup these laptops and PC's in the schools, and connect them to the internet. On top of that, attempt to build a computer network learning resource for the teachers and students to access and publish their own content to.
There is currently 1 teacher to 60-70+ students in schools all over South Africa, so we hope that giving them access to this kind of technology and learning resources will enable the students to have a more personal learning experience and take a little load off of the teachers at times. School is the most important time of a child's life, so anything we can do to help improve and facilitate the betterment of teaching and learning for students and teachers is great.
I am raising money for the project itself, Project Zulu. All money raised will go directly to the project and be used towards things such as funding new equipment and resources for their schools. I would really appreciate anyone who would like to support me in this experience and donate to this wonderful project!
