I am going to Mzambazi to further strengthen the partnership between Mzambazi Community Day Secondary School and Largs Academy. We are raising funds to buy the villagers livestock and crops and also some mosquito nets, so they have a sustainable food source and better protection from tropical diseases. A wise man once said:

“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”

I will be visiting the aforementioned secondary school to experience what it is like to work in a secondary school that has such high demands and very limited resources.

This experience will be a truly valuable one and will open not only my eyes, but also the eyes of Largs Academy pupils. I feel this will bring a much needed wakeup call and bring to life the brutal extremities of life that these people in Malawi face daily. This exchange visit will give me an insight into the Malawian culture, and I look forward to embracing it, also it will give me the chance to share some of our culture with them. By raising awareness we can help them massively and attempt to take some of the weight off of their shoulders through a little bit of fundraising.

To help fundraise for the villagers of Mzambazi, myself and the eight others who are coming with me to represent our school will, amongst other activities, be doing a sponsored cycle around the Island of Cumbrae.
