    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

On 15th December 2017 we welcomed our beautiful little Lexi to the world. She arrived 2 weeks ahead of her Boxing day due date. Her brother and sister were so excited that Lexi had arrived in time to join us for Christmas. We left the hospital on 16th December and enjoyed a perfect afternoon at home as a family of 5. Lexi's brother and sister got time to cuddle and kiss their sister before they went to bed that night. In the early hours of 17th December Lexi became very suddenly unwell. She was taken to the local hospital and eventually transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital. Lexi was taken to CICU (Cardiac Intensive Care Unit) they did everything they could to try and save our baby but not long after she arrived she suffered her fourth cardiac arrest of the night. At 08:37 we held our daughter’s hands and sang to her as the heart-breaking decision was made to stop life support. There was devastatingly nothing more that could be done to save our little princess.

In those moments our world fell apart. Just a few days before Christmas we had lost our daughter and somehow needed to find a way to carry on for our other children. Great Ormond Street Hospital helped carry us through those initial weeks. The kindness and compassion shown to us by all the staff at Great Ormond Street was exceptional. Especially the help we received from the two family liaisons from CICU. They were an amazing support through the scary world we found ourselves in of inquest, post mortems and investigations. We are still trying to find a way through life without Lexi and hope soon to understand what caused her to become unwell. We do know we will be forever grateful for the staff of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

A Brighter Future Fund has been setup in Lexi's memory. This fund will allow us to centralise any fundraising efforts made in Lexi's memory. All funds will go to creating a Brighter Future for the many children and families who pass through Great Ormond Street Hospital.

We have lots of fundraising ideas planned but if in the meantime you would like to run, jump, climb, swim, challenge yourself or bake in Lexi's memory please do let us know and we can show you how to setup a just giving page to link to Lexi's fund.

Thank you to everyone who kindly donated to our crowd funding page in lieu of flowers for Lexi funeral. We raised an incredible £1,639 which will be added to The Lexi Mace Brighter Future Fund.

Thank you also to the parents of Reception classes at Otford Primary school where Lexi's sister Annabelle attends. They raised an amazing £185 which was donated to Great Ormond Street in Lexi's memory. Great Ormond Street have assigned this money also to The Lexi Mace Brighter Future Fund.

Our little girl was with us for a moment but has created a lifetime of love. Her legacy will be one of a brighter future for the sickest of children and their families in a time of need. A legacy of kindness and love. Friends and family coming together to raise money in memory of a beautiful little girl who we all wish could be with us still today.

Thank you for reading, donating and for challenging yourself.

    Love

    Sophie & Andrew xxx
