Story

Our daughter Lexi was born with a Heart defect. After surgery at Alder Hey Children's Hospital she struggled to come of bypass and was placed on ECMO Life Support. She was finally strong enough to come off ECMO and continued to gain strength while still on a breathing ventilator. Lexi slowly reduced her dependancy on her ventilator however it became apparent that a further operation was needed as she had a paralysed diaphram, after this operation her lungs were able to work properly and allowed her to be weined off the ventilator and her many medications and made it home after just over 1 month in hospital.

Whilst in Alder Hey we met many families in similar situations, a number of which have been there for many months and are struggling day to day. Having been in the situation where your living in an ICU/HDU unit or ward, praying for good news every time you go through those doors but wondering when the next knock is going to be and whitnessing first hand how honerable and loving these parents are with most at their little ones bedside from morning until night.

We consider ourselves to be very lucky, we not only have a beautiful strong little girl but we've made it home for Christmas, and for those who won't we'd like to support them any way we can.

Thank you all who are able to help us support those with Little ones in Alder Hey over Christmas
