Story
Our daughter Lexi was born with a Heart defect. After surgery at Alder Hey Children's Hospital she struggled to come of bypass and was placed on ECMO Life Support. She was finally strong enough to come off ECMO and continued to gain strength while still on a breathing ventilator. Lexi slowly reduced her dependancy on her ventilator however it became apparent that a further operation was needed as she had a paralysed diaphram, after this operation her lungs were able to work properly and allowed her to be weined off the ventilator and her many medications and made it home after just over 1 month in hospital.
Whilst in Alder Hey we met many families in similar situations, a number of which have been there for many months and are struggling day to day. Having been in the situation where your living in an ICU/HDU unit or ward, praying for good news every time you go through those doors but wondering when the next knock is going to be and whitnessing first hand how honerable and loving these parents are with most at their little ones bedside from morning until night.
We consider ourselves to be very lucky, we not only have a beautiful strong little girl but we've made it home for Christmas, and for those who won't we'd like to support them any way we can.
Thank you all who are able to help us support those with Little ones in Alder Hey over Christmas

4 years agoWe took the remaining 7 to ward 1C where they we given out to parents on there. To say they were happy to get them is an understatement, with one lovely lady being in tears as she was having a bad day and the gesture made her feel so lovely. I've had multiple parents contact me thanking us for our gift so thank you all for making it possible. xxx #lexipower

4 years agoA little update, we've made our 50 gift bags up containing a teddy, some chocolate, mints, sweets, puzzle book, health care stuff, notepad and pen, travel mug and some water. We gave 43 to the nurses on ICU as it was a busy day on the ICU Unit so could not personally take them around. These bags will be given out on Christmas Day by the staff which is great. The remaining bags were given out by myself, Jess Holly and Jess's friend Libby. The 3 of them worked until 11pm on Tuesday making the bags up which they enjoyed so much. #lexipower

4 years agoWow thank you so much so far for your amazing support. We know we have amazing family and friends and this just proves it. This is just adding to the emotional roller coaster we have been on already. Today also some great things are happening to one of our Alder Hey Heart Warriors who was with Lexi during her journey and who's parents were a great source of support to us whilst there. #gojoseph
