‘Mystery Tours Fundraiser live from The Royal Theatre, Northampton’ August 6th at 7.30pm .
In March 2020, theatres across the U.K. closed, with no indication when they would safely be able to open again.
Looking Glass Theatre is proud to announce that a live streamed fundraiser will see the curtain rise at the Royal Theatre Northampton for the next installment of the company's popular ‘Mystery Tours’, supported by Northampton Borough Council.
This month, the tour focuses on the history of the Royal from its opening in 1884 through to its present day. The show will feature ghosts from the past, brought to life to tell their tale; together with interviews, photos and short extracts from plays presented by actors who have trod the theatre’s boards over the years.
The evening will be hosted by theatrical tour guide James Smith, whose Great Grandfather James Albert Twist (Conductor at The Royal), held a concert at The Guildhall in 1887 to raise money for new instruments, as the others were burnt in the theatre’s fire.
This production will be streamed live from the Royal’s empty stage on Looking Glass Theatre’s YouTube Channel LGTheatre observing all safety and social distancing guidelines. Whilst viewing is free, we ask that you are able to make a donation to our Crowdfunder Page, from which all proceeds will go to Looking Glass and Royal & Derngate to support them during this difficult time.
