Story

Hi All, This year has been incredibly difficult for so many as Covid 19 continues to impact our lives dramatically. Consequently many families are feeling hardship now more than ever as we approach the festive period.

As the crisis deepens one of our local food banks has seen between March and mid-October 2020 a demand to feed 6,500 people, This equates to more than double last years total figure in just 8 months. As Christmas approaches the banks will be preparing vital parcels containing long life & fresh food and additionally where available some festive treats and gifts for children.

During November I will be cycling to raise money to create 'Children's Christmas Gift Bags'.They will be made at home with the help of my family before being distributed to struggling families through local food banks. Each bag will contain age appropriate unisex items such as colouring books, pencils, pens, games and toys. I hope that although a small gesture it will provide a little joy and entertainment in a period of difficulty.

The challenge itself will involve me cycling on a fixed resistance indoor bike a minimum of 751 miles over the course of the month. This equates to the same distance as London to Prague one of my last flights before furlough. I would love to achieve a target of £1 per mile to reach as many families as possible .

Any funds remaining after creating the gift bags will be donated to The Trussell Trust as a cash donation to continue their support of over 1200 food bank centres across the UK.

Thank you in advance for the support, I will of course be posting regular progress updates on the ride, fundraising and gift. bag creation, Wish me luck!
