Story

I am "competing" in the Montrose Triathlon on 2nd June to raise money for a fantastic organisation.

3rd Aberdeen Girls' Brigade in Garthdee does Sterling work in the area. Throughout the year, they are constantly fundraising to pay fees to Girls Brigade Scotland as well as buying equipment for different activities.
Now that Aberdeen Presbytery are closing Garthdee Church they have had to move to Kaimhill School. They have been made very welcome and the headteacher is very supportive but of course this comes at a cost which is an added burden on finances.

They have approx 50 of a membership with 8 leaders who have all come through the organisation since they were little girls.
Some families with girls in the company really struggle financially. These parents do their best and all the girls are always in uniform. An extra few pounds would help them to be able to take the girls on outings which would benefit the girls and their families.

I understand that for some girls, coming to Girls Brigade is probably the only stability they have in their lives; they know the leaders are there every week. The leaders go out of their way to support the parents too.

So its a really good organisation making a real difference in Garthdee and surrounds. I'd like to help and doing this triathlon allows me to fundraise. I'd be really grateful for any support you feel appropriate.
