Story

Pinnacle Group are raising money to provide three Defibrillators for our local community in memory of Leon Walker. Pinnacle employee Donna Walker sadly lost her son Leon. Leon who was a 20-year-old local lad who was a professional Rugby League forward, playing for Leeds Rhinos, Salford Reds and in his first season with Wakefield Wildcats. Leon suffered a sudden cardiac arrest whilst playing against the Crusaders. Leon was treated on the pitch before being airlifted to Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

In an emergency a Defibrillator could be the difference between life and death. Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading killer in the UK, causing around 100,000 deaths every year. There are no advanced warnings and without effective treatment, Sudden cardia arrest is lethal. It’s crucial to act fast. Every minute that passes without the use of a defibrillator will decrease a victim’s chance of survival. Often by the time emergency services have arrived, it’s too late. For every minute someone is in cardiac arrest without CPR and access to a defibrillator, their chance of survival drops by up to 10%. With early treatment from an AED, the chances of survival will dramatically increase.

We are running a series of fundraising events to raise money to purchase the three Defibrillators that are needed. All proceeds will help towards our goal of providing this life saving equipment. We feel passionate about assisting the community with Defibrillators that could save the lives of so many people both young and old.
