I am hoping to go with my school, Sutton Grammar, to Malawi on a charity based project trip. Malawi is in the south east of Africa, and is one of the poorest countries in the world.
We will be going to Malawi to help within the community on a face to face basis and on a larger scale behind the scenes level. For example within the community we will be going into a school and helping teach the students some basic skills, we will also be running sex education classes for the boys at the school. This is because the rape and sexually transmitted disease rate is very high in Malawi and we hope to have a positive impact upon this by educating the future generations.
On a larger scale we hope to be able to help the villages infrastructure by repairing bore holes which supply water, furnishing a school, and repairing some of the basic facilities within the community. We are doing this in conguction with the charity organisation 'Fisherman's Rest' who have helping communities across Malawi for many years.
Of course none of this comes without a cost, and the whole cost of the trip is £2500, however I am hoping to raise £1500 of this in a more physical way, but this £1000 goal I have set on here will really help to boost my chances of reaching the end amount. I have taken into account the fact that Africa is a very politically and socially volatile country and that this may have an impact on the ability to run the trip, and therefore I have pledged that if it does become impossible to go that I will donate the funds raised to the charity Hope4Malawi.
I hope you see the benefits in what I am doing and will sponsor me in my cause, thank you for reading.
