Weʼve raised £204 to fund hospital transport costs for my brother in law who is battling a very rare and potentially deadly disease.

    Story

My 19 year old brother in law, Callum, has recently been diagnosed with a very rare and potentially deadly disease called Castlemans Disease. There is very little known about this disease and there are only 4 doctors in the whole of the UK who specialise in trying to cure this disease. Callum lives in Louth, Lincolnshire with his mum and dad and siblings and is now facing many trips to either London or Manchester for treatment to hopefully put him into remission, until a cure can be found. Callums is potentially facing chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Unfortunately this is not a cost that Callums parents can afford on their own, and Callum is not eligible for any help with transport costs. This has now left us with no option but to ask if people can donate any amount to help us cover the costs. Any additional money will be donated to cdcn.org (castleman disease collaborative network) in their fund raising efforts to find a cure.

A quick update on Callum. Today he had appointment with his oncologist at Castle Hill hospital in Hull. It has been confirmed that he has multicentric variant of castleman's disease and his latest PET scan shows multiple node involvement in on both sides of his neck and which unfortunately cannot be removed surgically. His consultant has also confirmed a referral to Christies in Manchester with a castleman's specialist, Dr James Cavet, so he should have an appointment within the next few weeks.

I remember Alisha speaking about Callum I'm sure. I hope how treatment is a success.
