Story

The Plot

Having spent the last ten years working in public libraries around the UK, I am spreading my wings, hitting the road and joining The Book Bus charity in Zambia. Zooming around the country in their mobile library Charlie, we will be visiting schools and community centres to read, play and laugh with the local children.

Inspiring a love of reading and continuing literacy development is something I have been passionate about throughout my career, and this trip will be a wonderful opportunity to benefit those I would not normally be able to reach.

In order to raise awareness of the project, I'm going to do a walk across London from Hampton Court to the Thames Barrier on the 26th May 2018. A nice 9 hours of walking, passing as many London landmarks as possible!

The Characters

The Book Bus charity's mission is one we can all get on board with:

"Improving children's lives one book at a time.

The Book Bus aims to improve child literacy rates in Africa, Asia and South America by providing children with books and the inspiration to read them.

We are currently working to improve literacy rates at a community level in India, Zambia, Malawi and Ecuador. Our library work, book donations and assisted reading programme is helping strengthen the reading culture in schools resulting in a more confident reading population that is better equipped for the future."

The Protagonists

Are YOU! Any support you can offer would mean so much to me and my future plans. The trip involves a project cost of £794 which goes towards funding the scheme and allowing The Book Bus to carry out its fantastic work. You are also welcome to join me on any section of the London walk, just contact/follow me on Insta or Twitter at @lollymoosome.

Thank you so much,

Lolly
