Story

Any funds raised above this amount will go towards completing items on Lenny's 'Living List'.Lenny (age 5) was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in September 2021, age 3. It has turned our lives upside down, and the time we have now is even more precious. DMD is a life-limiting condition which will cause his muscles to degenerate and stop functioning over time due to a lack of dystrophin that muscles need to strengthen and function, eventually impacting the heart and lungs. There is currently no cure for this condition, and Lenny endures so much at only 5 years old. Despite it all, he is a happy, cheeky and loving little boy who adores koalas, all things Australia, superheroes, and Arsenal.

Our focus is now on the future to raise money for the wheelchair Lenny will need (around the age of 6-8 years old but this could be sooner) and vital funds for future projects led by Duchenne UK which will hopefully lead to a cure for Lenny and boys like him. We are desperate for a cure in his lifetime.

Unfortunately, the wheelchair Lenny needs is not funded by the NHS and for him to be as independent for as long as possible we are hoping to purchase an electric wheelchair for him, but this comes at a hefty price of £16,000. We want to make sure Lenny has the best possible level of care throughout his life and to have the same opportunities as his peers. This all terrain, electric wheelchair will go a long way for a little boy who will sadly lose the function of his muscles over time due to this condition. He has recently tried out the Trekinetic and another electric chair - follow us on Instagram to see him enjoying the wheels we are fundraising for!

So far Lenny has; completed a 3k trike ride, walked/been carried for 5 miles (3 more miles to follow), has been pushed in his wheelchair for 10k, held a movie event and has been supported by various raffles, auctions, an ultramarathon, walks, sponsored bag packs and coming this football season - his logo will be on a kit! A huge thank you to these people who have helped Lenny, it means alot to Lenny and us.

Please share, donate and tell anyone you know - the more we raise awareness of Duchenne the closer we can hopefully get to a cure.
