    Story

Addie and Jennie are putting on a musical concert to raise money for Akwaaba on Sunday, the 29th of October 2017. Click here to RSVP and reserve your spot. Suggested donation £20 but any and all donations welcome for a 'ticket'. You can also donate in cash in person on the day. Come enjoy an afternoon of music and there will be a cash bar at the event as well!

Akwaaba is a Hackney-based social centre for refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants. Akwaaba is a safe and welcoming space for people of all backgrounds—and of all faiths and none. Our members are drawn from nearly 50 countries. The aim of Akwaaba is to reduce social isolation, foster solidarity and offer practical and emotional support to vulnerable members of our community. Akwaaba is run entirely by volunteers and we try to give all members an equal say in how the social centre is run.

We are continuing to seek sustainable sources of funding to ensure that Akwaaba has a secure future. All money raised will be reinvested directly in the running of the project.

Hello friends, The show is a wrap! After 4 months of prep, practice, anxiety, and excitement we were absolutely amazed by the outpouring of support last Sunday. Many thanks again to everyone - whether through helping us plan the event, offering words of encouragement or just simply being in our lives. We really couldn't have done it without you. Most importantly, thanks to everyone who donated! Counting all of the donations on the day and offline, we hit our goal! As a show of appreciation, we are posting some of the performances from the day.
