Story
Over 2000 people packed the streets last year for our Lights Up spectacular of lights and music, the culmination of a day of celebration around the town, and the start of the festive season which sees a fabulous display of Christmas lights and decorations in our lovely town.
But this year, thanks to Covid -19 things will be looking very different.
Every effort is being made for the town to be decorated with Christmas lights as usual. Unfortunately we will not be able to have either a lantern procession or fireworks to celebrate the switching on of the lights.
Instead we are asking the people of Liskeard to join together on Saturday 28th November at 6.30pm to celebrate on their doorsteps, to make their own lantern to display at home, or just shine a light to come together and brighten up the streets of the town.
How can you help?
Each year we ask for help to support the costs of the event. Even without the procession and fireworks, there are costs involved in decorating the town with Christmas lights. The lights up are supported by grants from the Liskeard Town Council, Liskeard Town Forum, and many businesses around the town, however, we still need more funding to get the lights looking great for Liskeard.
We re-use many of our decorations each year, but need to make sure they are safe to use and properly maintained – and of course, we’d love to have funds to buy more decorations and make Liskeard’s Christmas even better!
We know things are particularly difficult this year.
Can you make a donation?
Thank you in advance for your support
