Story
First of all, I would like to say thank you so much for visiting my page and supporting me. For those who may not know me, my name is Lilly Rowley-White, and I have a huge fear of heights. I am 15 years old and turning 16 in less than two weeks (on the 3rd of November). I am currently studying for my GCSE’s (which I will take next June), and, alongside this, I am working towards my PPL (private pilot’s license). I am a Corporal at 759 Beccles RAF Air Cadets, and this incredible youth organisation has given me multiple chances to go out into the world, out of my comfort zone to find out who I really am. The Royal Air Force Air Cadets offers so many incredible opportunities that I have had the privilege to take part in and experience. For example, I am just about to complete my silver Duke of Edinburgh, I have taken part in some amazing camps, air shows, drill competitions, gliding, flying, sporting events and so much more. This community is not a complex one but is created for young people to build skills by trying new things, taking on new challenges, and more importantly pushing themselves to be the best versions of who they are.
To help enhance our activity programme I want to overcome my fear of heights and skydive out of Beccles aerodrome during the month of November to raise money for my squadron. In addition will be completing my first solo flight in a light aircraft from Virage flying school in the same month. My target is to raise a minimum of £1000 which I plan to use towards various activities for us to enjoy that cadets might not be able to experience themselves.
Although I am frightened, the knowledge that the money is going towards the enjoyment of young people just like me is more than just a prize. It’s a joy that I will have the pleasure of carrying around with me for the rest of my life. So yet again I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your support to help my dream of helping others come true.
