Lilly has a very rare condition, 16p11.2–p12.2 duplication syndrome, this effects her in many different ways. She has a global developmental delay of 4-5 years, she is autistic, she is so small for her age and many more. However one of the things that effects her most is her mobility. She is hypermobile, best way a physio described it was constantly walking on dry sand. She tires so quickly and is weak. This has contributed to why Lilly has never had a bike. They are just to unsteady (with stabilisers) and way to heavy. She also has a problem gripping the handle bars and cant use the pedals. We had given up on the dream of her being able to join in with her sisters riding around the garden and family bike trips out. One day on a disability group I'm part of someone mentioned a Tomcat trike so I contacted the only distributor here in Northern Ireland. He came out with a trike Lilly could try that had a brace for her back and a part to stop her slipping off the seat. there where lots of specialised features that would be customised to fit her needs. I must say I got very very emotional that day in my drive, my nearly 9 year old was absolutely loving this Trike something I never thought was possible. So we went through her needs and he came back with a quote a few days later. This is where I need your help. The quote is good for 6 months, normally I would try to do fundraisers or something but in these covid times things are extremely limited. I am applying to charities as well but they either have closed their process or are not answering as there is no one in the offices. I can not believe a trike costs this much but I do understand why as is is built around Lilly. This will also do her for a good 5 years. please please please any donation no matter how small would be a massive deal for us. Thank you all so much for reading all about my wee sunshine.
