I've raised £200 to go on a World Challenge expedition to Nepal in July 2018. I'm raising money with an abseil of 165 feet off the Transporter Bridge.

Story

I have been selected to represent my school for a once in a life time expedition to Nepal in July 2018 with World Challenge. There will be twenty 14 & 15 year olds on the trip and we will work with the local community to help rebuild schools and other needed buildings after the devastating earthquake of 2015. We will also trek for 6 days, 6 hours a day in to the heart of the Himalayas.

As part of our challenge we need to individually raise all funds to take part, which is approx. £3,000. To help, my Grandma donated a voucher to give me the opportunity to abseil from the famous transporter bridge in Middlesbrough for sponsorship.

Once briefed and fitted in to my harness and helmet I’ll climb the 9 flights of 212 stairs, walk along the narrow gantry with a see-through floor to the abseil point 165 feet above the ground. When the gate is opened I’ll step down and descend under my own control back to the ground.
