Story

Rachel is one of our lovely Lime Tree parents who has been part of our Lime Tree family for almost 6 years. Rachel first came to Lime Tree with her husband Scott and their beautiful baby Louie. Rachel‘s amazing sister Laura, has written the following piece to explain Rachel’s story.

Rachel Timmins gave birth to her second son, Jay, on 20th June 2016. She and husband Scott already had Louie, aged four. Nine days after Jay's birth, Rachel had a massive stroke. The following night, she had a further bleed on the brain and underwent two surgeries to stop the bleeding. She was in hospital for many months.

In March 2017, Rachel left hospital and moved to a care home for people with brain injuries, where she is still living. In September, she had cranioplasty, a surgery to rebuild her skull using a metal plate. The hope is that Rachel will be able to return home at some point, but there is no planned date as yet. Rachel will require signifcant home renovations and equipment when this time comes.

Lime Tree are holding a Twilight Walk to raise essential funds for home modifications and equipment to enable Rachel to come home to her husband and her beautiful boys. We will be walking from our Cossington Road nursery to King Street, Barrow, Quorn and Loughborough. The whole walk is 7 miles however people are welcome to join us at any of our settings. We will be dressing up...’Be Seen In Green’ so wear anything green (glow sticks and tutus also welcome). The brighter the better! Anyone over the age of 16 can take part. We are asking all participants for a minimum contribution of £3 to take part. If you wish to join us for the walk please pay your entry via this page and let us know you‘ll be joining us in the comments section. You don‘t have to take part to support, please feel free to donate. Every penny helps! Please share our page far and wide, we want to raise as much as possible to help get Rachel home with her family, where she belongs 💚🌳
