No 10 North Protest against yet further regression of disabled peoples’ human rights and beyond

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the United Nations Convention on Rights of Disabled People (UNCRDP), on 13th Dec 2006. DPAC want to use this as an opportunity to celebrate the convention and expand the scope of our campaign against regression of our rights by this Labour Government and the Coalition and Tory regimes that went before them. It is shocking that a Labour government continues to slash our rights putting us at risk of destitution, imprisonment in our own homes or care homes, and even of more unnecessary deaths.

We need to raise money for a broad range of activities including a protest on December 4th at no 10 North in Manchester to mark the anniversary and to show how since signing and ratifying the convention successive governments have taken away our rights and attacked our benefits, independence and living standards. This could be done through commissioning film, song, art, writing, theatre, posters as well as protest and making another complaint to the UN using the optional protocol in UNCRPD regarding Labour’s war on us since coming to power 26 months ago.
