Weʼve raised £390 to give to RISC - the Recovery Industry's Charity

Funded on Monday, 1st January 2018

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

The Road Rescue Recovery Association (R.R.R.A) is 30 years old this year so what better way than to hold a charity event.

All and any members of the Recovery Industry are welcome and those who are not involved in the industry but appreciate what recovery does can get involved or make a donation.

Charity event date: Friday 27 October to Sunday 29 October 2017

The event is not a race, it is a set of challenges and some may say getting a 15 year old plus Ford KA to the Nurburgring will be challenge in itself, but fear not.... a "dry run" has already been completed to test the viability.

We start at a location in the centre of England and will be timed to the Port of Dover. There will be many special stages over the next few days and will be based on skills and teamwork, but certain items will need to be found locally along the way, if you don't have these items on arrival at the Nurburgring you will receive a penalty.

The Nurburgring is open on Saturday 28th October and the aim is to beat the "bridge to gantry" lap time set at 12 minutes 17.49 seconds which was achieved on the "dry run".

There will be an evening event at the Crown Pub in the village.

ALL proceeds will be donated to the Recovery Industry's charity RISC.

RISC Charity. Vehicle Recovery is as old as the automobile itself. However, it only really became an organised industry in the early seventies and has always been a dangerous occupation. Over the years many people have lost their lives, or have been seriously injured serving their fellow motorists and attending breakdowns and other incidents on our roads. The charity can provide 'instant relief payments' to any recovery operator injured to help them financially and get through that terrible time.
