Story
On 1st November 2017 I will be joining the All Hands earthquake recovery team for two months helping to rebuild a school badly damaged by the 2015 earthquakes.
Thousands of children are currently out of school and are missing a significant part of their education due to the number of schools that were destroyed in the earthquakes. The school rebuild project is an overall effort to build new schools and repair partially damaged schools in remote locations across Nepal. They are currently rebuilding two schools in this area and will begin a third in November which is when I will join the team.
This is no picnic. I will be camped at a base nearby for the duration of my stay and will work 6 days a week on the construction site. Our day starts at 6am when we get up eat breakfast, boots on and ready to go to site at 6:40am.
I am funding myself to fly out there and will cover all personal costs such as visas and vaccines. I am looking to raise funds for two reasons:
Firstly to pay for half of some of the essential items that I need to take with me: Waterproof tent, sleeping bag (-10, it will be their winter, it's going to be cold), safety glasses, dust masks, work gloves, steel toed footwear, solar shower, lots of sock :-)
Secondly all additional funds will go direct to the charity to go towards, tools, materials, transport and management of each volunteer, so all additional money raised with go directly to support the great work being done in Sindhupalchowk by Hands.org.
If you would rather not donate money and would rather purchase something please feel free to email me on cessfordlindsay1@gmail.com letting me know what you would like to purchase and I can give you details of where to send the items too.
All Hands also have a wish list of other items that they need to help with the project that you can also purchase: https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/13A205AA0VVR1/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v?
Thanks in advance for your support.

After recently being made redundant at the end of last year I have decided to dedicate this year to various volunteering projects. I have recently returned from South Africa and will embark on my next volunteer project to Nepal at the end of this year.
