I've raised £5000 to Provide deposits and rent for The Homeless prior to The Pound Project's Registration.

Over the past twelve months I have started to volunteer for my local homeless charity and organised a couple of fundraising events including the successful Homeless Support Stand-Up Project where I organised over 25 comedy nights all over the UK and each night contributed funds to their local homeless charities. The funds helped out over 20 different charities nationwide to provide food and supplies throughout December - this is now a national, yearly event. Recently I initiated and opened up a local charity shop under The Homeless Support Project which is my home-town charity who serve up to 100 meals a day for the homeless and destitute. I manage the shop on behalf of the charity and they are now successfully self-sustaining with a huge profit for extra food and supplies each month. Realising that I have the passion and confidence to do more, I am in the process of setting up my own charity called 'The Pound Project' and I am starting now whilst I try and sort out the red tape and politics involved in running my own organisation. Whilst in Liverpool I saw a tent with this sign on and I couldn't wait any longer to begin my new project - I am raising money to provide a deposit for bedsits for these two and others. Eventually my project will hopefully not only provide deposits to help the homeless into accommodation but the biggest ambition is to purchase properties under the charity and keep a low, fixed rent. Rent paid in will go back into the pot to cover insurances, accounts and repairs. For now, I desperately want to help these men find a home because their plea is desperate, heart-wrenching and has moved me to tears. I have proven that one person can make a difference and I know just one pound can too. Instead of asking for direct debit payments like most national charities, all I'm asking for is a one-off payment of one pounds. Imagine what I could achieve if one million people in the UK paid one pound? Help me start my campaign and charity by finding these survivors and courageous men a deposit for a home.
