Story

My name is Lucy Blackwood and I have been very lucky to be selected to represent Yorkshire and the UK at the 24th World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, USA in August 2019.

We are going to meet Scouts from all around the world and learn about their cultures and ways of life. We will develop skills such as teamwork and leadership and look at how we as Scouts can benefit our local communities. This will be an amazing opportunity, but as part of this experience, we each should try to raise £3800. A percentage of this total also contributes to scouts from developing countries to attend the Jamboree.

The opportunity is not just about the attending the Jamboree - it is about the journey to get me there and my development within the Scouting organisation. Participating in events like this will help me and others grow into scout leaders for the next generation.

My first fundraising event will be Rombalds Stride Winter Challenge walk on 3rd February 2018. Rombalds stride is an arduous 23 miles walk which takes in some of Yorkshire’s finest scenery, going from Guiseley, up the Airedale Valley, over Rombalds Moor to Ilkley, then across Otley Chevin and back to Guiseley. The route is to be completed within a 10 hour time limit.

Please sponsor me to complete this this walk. I would be grateful for any amount you are able to donate, no matter how small.

Thank you for your support
