Story
Linton Park Cricket Club is looking to raise £14,000 towards the total cost of £28,000 for new outdoor cricket nets. LPCC has recognised the need to upgrade the static cricket net facility to a new enclosed 2 lane net, located towards the south-west corner of the ground. During the last few years the junior set up has become very successful & has increased in size significantly (100+ boys & girls across all age groups). With this has come a demand for the use of nets from both juniors & adults that we can no longer support without investment in this new facility. The adults now have a dedicated training slot on a Wednesday evenings with the Colts training Tuesday evenings and on weekend mornings.
The net facility will be a fixed cage system with netting designed to retain all the balls within the cage. The AstroTurf base will be extended to provided reasonable run ups for bowlers which will also mean less work for the ground volunteers to repair foot holes each year. The Astroturf net will have shock absorbing mat laid underneath to provide a true and even bounce for an even contest between bat and ball. This will be a major upgrade on the existing net facilities, which are no-longer fit for purpose due to age and location, and allow practice during games without interrupting play.
The new nets will be a great asset for the club and will help train our current club members as well as future generations of cricketers for hopefully another 20-25 years.
The Club welcome donations from members, friends, family, local businesses and anyone interested in help providing for the future of cricket at Linton Park.
