Our free wildlife rescue service doesn’t come cheap to us. Every time we attend a rescue it costs us money out of our own pocket. The cost is for the fuel in getting to the rescue, then having to transport that casualty to the wildlife hospital which is a 42 mile round trip. We often have to do this trip 3 times every day! We also occasionally have to take casualties to hospitals much further afield to Essex, Hastings and even Norfolk! Our fuel bill is huge! Without your kind donations we simply couldn’t afford to pay our fuel bill out of our own pockets, this would mean we would have to close our rescue service.

On top of our fuel costs, we also have the cost of feeding all the gulls in our rehabbers care, this is very expensive as it’s not just a seasonal cost, it’s every week of the year. This is why we constantly need money coming in to ensure we can carry on what we do.

I’ve been criticised by some for always asking for money, this makes me very upset as these people do not understand why we need the money. They have absolutely no idea how much driving we do every day, the wear and tear on our cars, or how many gulls our rehabbers have at home. In the busy season we have around 60 gulls between us. If we don’t keep asking for money we can’t continue what we do, it’s as simple as that. Anyone that questions what we do is welcome to spend a week with one of our rescuers all day every day to see just how much we do. These people have no right to question why we have to ask for money. Would they be prepared to fill up their fuel tank every 4 days at their own expense to do rescues? Probably not.

Thank you to everyone that does donate and keeps us on the road, YOU are the ones keeping this rescue service going. Without you we are nothing.

Thank you so much 🙏
