Story
I have started this page because I need ongoing physio and my local NHS won't provide or fund it. I am a wheelchair user due to Cerebral Palsy and regular physio lessens its effects, reduces pain and helps to maintain function. The fact of having CP makes physio something I need, but in addition, my knees have contracted which means my legs do straighten anymore, so my need is even more urgent.
I am currently paying for physio privately, but this is putting strain on an already limited income, and I don't think, given my need, this is something I should have to pay for, (hence the page). If you understand and want to help me with this please make a donation.
I've had someone ask why I can't get physio on the NHS? So I thought I would answer here. Locally, medical professionals are arguing that I am managing my own condition because I go to the gym and swim. My condition is long term, and they are using that which I am already doing as a reason not to provide me with physio, or fund it. This is inaccurate from my perspective, because me doing other forms of exercise doesn't negate my need for physio, and I can't perform physio on myself.
Update 01/08/17 I want to say thanks to everyone who help me reach my target, with 17 days to spare. As I've said from the start my need for physio is ongoing, so I'm going to keep my page open and active for now, (for at least the remaining 17 days).
Update 02/08/17 As I have reached my initial target of £400, I have upped my target, slightly, to £500, because there are 16 days left and my need for physio is ongoing.
Thanks, Lisa
