Story

Help me fight Anxiety and Depression

I am not a psychologist, a counselor or a doctor, but my goal is to help as many people as I can who suffer from a mental illness that can oftentimes alienate and exclude them. I have been looking to offer my own therapy, and to create a support group - and it's all in the name of having fun.

Sometimes when we surrender to the dark side of our illness, we can find ourselves withdrawing from people when we may need them most, because we don't want the people we care about thinking negatively of us or we feel they may not understand why we're being so distant, and the list goes on. We detach ourselves and can feel more lonely and helpless than before.

I would like to create a social group for people suffering like this, to give them a chance to be around people who understand and not to feel judged. So they are able to take part in activities they might otherwise shy away from. I would like to give them a reason to get out of the house and feel accepted whether they are having a good day or a bad day, and ultimately allow them to have fun and freedom whilst knowing there is always support there. My vision is to create a group chat outside of the social meetings and should anyone feel they need support, they will always have that group, and of course me to be there and ensure they are not alone.

I'm not looking for much money, the idea behind this page is to raise a little to support those who might not be financially able to take part in certain activities. (activities such as day trips, go carting, lunches etc)

I'm based in Edinburgh and am really looking forward to starting this project, as someone who suffers as well it is a cause very close to my heart.

Thank you for your time :)
