Story

Tracy Newis sadly passed away on the 53 and being a Mother of three children.

Battling depression for many years was hard but after loosing her farther to cancer in 2015 destroyed Tracy and she was found in 2016 near to Mothers day unresponsive in her home then was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. When Tracy started to respond it was clear that there was brain damage and that care would be needed for Tracy once she returned home.

On release from hospital there was no care package in place for Tracy neither support from her doctors , we felt alone. Tracys legs were affected so she would move around the home on her bottom with no aid provided for her to move around with. I Lisa Glover Neice to Tracy decided to give my help by cooking meals for Tracy , collecting shopping, making sure she had taken her medication, maintaining the house/gardens, dealing with financial issues etc because there just wasnt any help.

Tracy was receiving esa benefit but we were pretty sure that Tracy was entitled to the benefit pip so we filled out the appropriate forms and the application was declined , we appealed and we still await a response although now its to late. Tracy was asked to attend a health check appointment with regards to her esa benefit which Tracy could not attend due to her lack of mobility so we requested a home visit and we was told someone will be in touch, nobody did then Tracy received a letter to say she will be sanctioned which she was in November 2018.

With Tracys illness came severe incontinence which meant bathing and washing of clothes regulary so fuel costs were quite high which was a big worry with the sanction upon us and to add to it the washing machine and cooker had now broken also the bed and sofa destroyed due to the incontinence which we were told because Tracy had lived in her home for 12 years she was not entitled to a furniture grant so she was sleeping on the floor and living on sandwiches.

As a family we helped Tracy financially as much as possible but there was still help needed so there were days sometimes weeks in the freezing cold weather were Tracy would be without gas and electric meaning no bath for Tracy when she had wet herself , the house was getting almost unbearable to be in .

Social services were informed but we were told there will be a wait and in the meantime we were asked to put an application into universal credit so that Tracy could get some money which we did but it takes time and it was time we didnt have as Tracys health was deteriorating.

After waiting over a year in February 2019 Tracy was allocated a social worker which gave us hope for Tracys wellbeing. Doctors got involved and said there were appalled at Tracys health and living conditions even though for years we have been pleading with them to help us. It was put forward that Tracy needed a section where she could live freely but have on site care when needed but again there was a wait.

Mid February still no money from universal credit leaving Tracy in the cold and dark we had been reassured from the social worker that Tracy was ok and that she would not starve as she had visited a food bank for Tracy.

When visiting Tracy i could see she was getting very thin and unwell so doctors were called but they said there was nothing they could do but wanted Tracy to attend the surgery for an examination which was impossible as Tracy was weak and felt very embarrassed to leave the home having not had a bath for a month also by this time Tracys incontinence was worsening and the home was a disgrace but with no hot water it was not easy to keep clean.

Friday 1st March i visited Tracy and i was disgusted to see the food she had been provided by social services was dried pasta pots that Tracy was eating dry because there was no gas or electric to boil water with, her hair was matted and she looked painfully thin so i got her some food and said i will get some help from the family.

Saturday the 2nd of March i visited Tracy with her 12 year old son he was upset to see his moms suffering and he gave her the biggest hug ever, i called the family and we got together to fund some gas and electric for Tracy which made her so happy . We helped Tracy up to the bathroom so she could enjoy a bath she had waited over a month for and the releif on her face was overwhelming to see. Tracy was enjoying her bath so we went ro get some fresh clothes and towels from the family then when we returned an idea of a takeaway for Tracy was suggested and she was over the moon so we left Tracy to her bath and returned home to call a takeaway.

Sunday 2nd March i visited Tracy and opened the front door i called "Tracy" there was no response so i walked up the stairs and found Tracy still in the bath she had passed away.

As a family we feel Tracy was neglected we always had to wait for help and Tracy waited to long.

8th March a week after Tracys death a universal credit payment of £170 was paid into Tracys bank which would have to last a month.

We do not have any funding to bring justice to Tracy and give her the send off that she deserves at her funeral so we ask please help raise funds to give Tracy her dignity back.

Many Thanks.
