This year I had decided to run the Cardiff half marathon in October as a personal challenge for myself. Nevertheless I had never imagined that my best friend Ciara would also be diagnosed with a carcinoid tumour in her lung which is a type of neuro-endocrine tumour (NET) this year. Ciara is an incredible person and truthfully I can not put it into words here how much she means to me and how lucky I am to be able to call her my friend. I will be splitting the money raised between two charities, firstly the NET Patient Foundation which helped Ciara when diagnosed with a neuro-endocrine tumour in her lung to understand what her type of cancer entailed. Secondly, I will raise money for The Liverpool Heat and Chest Hospital charity who not only performed life saving surgery for Ciara but also provided accommodation for her parents during her stay in hospital which I am sure you can appreciate is incredibly important.
Please donate as much as you can, for anyone who has been lucky enough to have Ciara in their lives will understand the amazing, caring and kind person she is and for those of you who do not know Ciara all I can say is I'm sorry that you don't and hope that one day you meet her or have someone so caring and someone you can turn to no matter how you feel in your own lives.
