Story

I am walking 50km, alone, on April 25th 2021 to raise money for a local hospice, St Giles, in Lichfield.

My second mum, Helen, has been battling stage 4 thyroid cancer for the past 3 years and even though it is terminal, it hasnt stopped her from fighting with everything she has. She has had several tumours removed from her lungs, and 6 from her brain. She has also had her spleen removed and now has an inoperable tumour in her upper abdomen. She has recently had radiotherapy to treat tumours in her sinus and arm. Helen has two daughters who I am really close to and have known since I was born, (they are more like sisters than friends and we have built so many memories over the last almost 40 years), and 2 grandchildren. She is also one of the kindest, loveliest people I know.

St Giles have really looked out for Helen since she first contacted them. They check on her regularly and get her anything she needs straight away. Like all hospices, they are struggling financially and this, along with how well they have looked after Helen, is why I’m doing this challenge to raise money for them.
