Hedgehog rescues across the country often have great difficulty finding veterinarians who are able or willing to care for hedgehogs. Their duty to wildlife is only to end an animals suffering so when treatments or surgeries are required, it often falls to rescues to pay for those treatments and the associated medications. While we can sometimes receive discounts, vet fees for us run into the thousands every year.

We now have an excellent vet willing to work with us but require a space for the vet to assess and/or operate. We are initially looking to convert a small area at the back of our current building which will need to be clad with hygienic cladding. We then need lighting, an anathestic machine (circa £5000), sterilisation equipment as well as potentially x-ray facilities (further funding may be required)

Depending how fundraising goes, we may even invest in a new shed to increase our overall capacity, incorporate an intensive care/new admissions ward as well as building the operating facilities in a completely new space!

Its big project but the hope is that the facility will save thousands each year and we will be plan to open the unit to other rescues across Kent so that they can save on their own veterinary bills.
