5 Years ago I visited the Stella Louise hostel in Vijayawada India. The 120 children in this hostel are either orphans or from families who cannot afford to feed them., they are from all denominations, and are aged between 4 and 16 years old.
This Hostel is a grass roots charity with every penny going to help feed, clothe and educate the children. Run by father Deva and House mother Leela who are kind , caring and have done an amazing job.
Our aim is to educate these impoverished children, so when they reach 16 they are educated, have computer skills and speak English which is essential to getting a job.
We are trying to get the hostel as self sufficient as possible. They grow their own vegetables, they now have their own buffello for milk. These items they can also take to market to barter for meat and other essentials.
Unfortunately their well has gone saline and the water is undrinkable, so we need to build another well with a purriffying engine so they can drink it, as well as wash and water the vegetables. The cost of this is estimated to £5000.
