Hi I'm Lisha. I'm fighting cancer. I'm staying in the Bexley Wing Hotel at Leeds St James Cancer Hospital. The hotel is a free service for cancer patients & families who have to travel long distances for treatment or for patients that are too ill to travel for treatment every day. The hotel has 20 rooms offering twin & single accommodation, 2 of which are for disabled patients.

The hotel receives no direct NHS funding and relies heavily on donations to upgrade and renew fixtures and fittings and provide this much needed service.

A week into treatment and I know that I would not have been able to get through my treatment without this much needed service. Having slept in one of the beds for a week I'm painfully aware of how old these beds are - I am by no means complaining as this facility is my lifeline right now .... but I'll be brutally honest, the springs are digging into my back bum & legs summat' chronic. Remember the story of the princess and the pea under the mattress? Yup, you've got an idea of how knackered these mattresses are.

Having chatted to the amazing staff here I have found out that this hotel was built 10 years ago and the beds and mattresses have never been replaced. Can you imagine how many patients and families have used these beds in the last 10 years? So I'm on a mission. I would like to raise enough money to replace every bed and mattress in the hotel. A hotel that so many patients and families rely on as they battle cancer.

I know we can do this. So I've started this page. I've set a minimum target of £2,000.00 but I know we can raise so much more. Even if everyone just donated £1.00 we can easily reach this and provide new beds. I can not tell you what a life line this hotel is for so many people as this is the main cancer hospital in Yorkshire. So come on guy's lets do this. Let's give something back to this hotel that has provided this much needed service to so many over the last 10 years - and does it through donations and the kindness of your big hearts.
