This free event is organised entirely by a small committee of dedicated volunteers and not by the council as many people are led to believe.

No-one on the committee or its members make a single penny from the society, and without dedicated members and volunteers, the society simply would cease to exist.

The cost of putting on the event generally increases each year, and is now in the region of £35,000. To help meet those ever-increasing costs, the society's volunteers work hard throughout the year to fundraise at various local events - and this is also where you good people come in.

Organising and staging the event is very hard work, but we have a of fun along the way. And it doesn't just stop there - there are many things that need to be done after the event is over and continues long into the night!
