    Story

Liv Pontin is one of the most honest, kind hearted people you could imagine you’d meet.

She used her own mental health struggles to support and educate police officers.

In March 2017 she was prevented from taking her life by a train driver what happened next would leave a lasting legacy on policing.

The policing community loved liv, her sense of humour and her ability to talk openly and honestly about her mental health struggles.

Liv used this moment in her life to make a positive difference and began helping police with mental health awareness work and talking about her own suicide bid to support others battling the same thoughts.

Liv was very open and honest about her battle with mental health she decided that March 27th 2017 was going to be the last day of her life.

She was saved by a stranger who offered hope at the time Liv said She had been unable to work because of her fragile state and ‘came to the conclusion that I had no future because if I couldn’t work I wasn’t useful to anyone’.

Liv hadn’t eaten and said she felt ‘drained and exhausted’ and ‘lost all fight’.

Liv used that experience to change policing perception of mental health and in the next 12 months Liv would secure a job as police staff helping raise awareness of mental health and providing a real support for victims.

Sadly this morning having known live personally we received the tragic news that the 7th May 2019 was to be known as the last day Liv was alive

This was the day she had chosen to end her life, and we’d like to offer her father and boyfriend our condolences.

They legacy and the impact Liv has offered policing will bring life long learning, her experiences and insights will never be forgotten

Liv we hope you rest in peace it was a pleasure knowing you, meeting you and exchanging chats.

It’s difficult putting the words to the page but thank you for everything you have brought to policing.

Please allow Liv’s close family and friends the respect they deserve at this difficult time.

    RIP Liv
