Story
Thousands of children across the Liverpool City Region will soon go hungry this summer as schools holidays kick in - and school meals disappear.
So we’ve launched a new ECHO 'Share Your Lunch’ campaign urging people to donate what they can afford and stop it happening.
We urgently want your kind help to raise £10,000 and, through our partners at Can Cook, that will then provide 5,000 nutritious cooked meals for our hungry children this summer.
Our Just Giving appeal here follows shocking reports last year revealing that Merseyside schoolchildren were reporting back for classes in September undernourished, underweight and in no fit state to learn.
Said Liverpool ECHO Editor Alastair Machray: ‘The thought of kids going hungry and with no fuel in the tank to enjoy the long summer days and warmer weather with their friends, is truly heartbreaking. And a nightmare for their poor parents.
“But together we can stop it happening.
“Every £2 donated will provide a meal for a hungry child in the Liverpool City region this summer.
“Thank you.”
