I've raised £10000 to help fund the rehabilitation and release of Liberia's wildlife that we rescue from the illegal wildlife trade

The Libassa Wildlife Sanctuary is the first and only wildlife rescue centre in Liberia! Our missions are:
• Rescuing and confiscating wild animals that are victims of the illegal wildlife trade;
• Nursing them back to health;
• Releasing back into protected areas if possible;
• Providing lifelong care for those that can't be released back into the wild;
• Education, outreach and public awareness.
We run solely on donations, and have a large number of animals to rehabilitate. We need your help to provide these animals with food, accommodation, medical care and transportation.
Since the beginning of 2017 the sanctuary has rescued over 100 animals, 30+ different species and has released over 40 animals back to the wild.
Rescues have varied from pangolins being sold regularly on the side of the street in the city; crocodiles being sold in buckets; monitor lizards tied to the back of motorbikes; monkeys being chained/tied up as pets; antelope and parrots being kept as entertainment in establishments, to the extreme of requiring an armed guard to confiscate an eagle that was being sold with its legs bound and feathers cut. These are just a handful of examples that we've come across, with each animal requiring its own method of rehabilitation.
If you would like to support our cause, any donation is warmly received. Please follow us on Facebook: Libassa Wildlife Sanctuary - LiWiSa to see the progress we're making.
On behalf of Liberia's wildlife: THANK YOU!
