Story
We are a small team staffed by volunteers, who reach out to people who by their life circumstances are on the margins of society, and isolated.
We work with full time carers, people in recovery from drug and alcohol abuse, people recovering from mental health issues, people affected by disabilities, HIV, and family groups of asylum seekers. We run either days or overnight stays to enable these groups to have a break from the difficult circumstances of their everyday lives. We provide well being activities in rural Northumberland, to enable the small groups to relax and recharge their batteries to help them to carry on.
Our values are to give respect and value to each individual. We also teach some well being practices to take back into their lives to help people cope with anxiety, stress and trauma. We find that the benefit is huge, and our feedback is very positive. Our funds expire at the end of 2016, and we would like to have funding to enable us to provide support for these vulnerable groups.
